In 1990 the most powerful Pulsar "GTi-R" was
introduced to challenge a world rally championship. The Pulsar GTi-R used
the turbocharged 2.0-liter DOHC engine with intercooler, which developed
230 horsepower, and adopted ATTESA Full time Four-Wheel Drive.
Housed in the lighter, more compact 3-door hatch back bodyshell it
instantly had street credibility and quickly had cult following.
